November 23rd 1976, Ollis leaves the United Kingdom to settle in Darwin, NT, Australia. Taking up his post as Lecturer in Fine Art at Darwin Community College, Casuarina (newly built after the devastation of Cyclone Tracy in 1974, the college is now Charles Darwin University).
John Wolseley, painter and printmaker also moved to Australia from the UK in 1976 a friendship was formed between the two artists.
1978 Ollis visits Victoria and the southern coast of Australia.
